2026- Opening The Gates: The Year That Breaks The Stillness

New Year. New Date. A New Page.

2026 arrived as a new breath. One that let the old one go with respect, and the new one arrive with excitement. It was transitory yet seamless.

2026, being the Year of the Horse, includes all the power and majesty of this animal. In many traditions, this year will be all about our movement, instinct, and momentum in different aspects of life. Numerologically, the sum of this year amounts to ‘1’, which further reinstates that this year is all about beginnings.

Movement that is all about refusing stagnation, instead of rushing. Running instead of pacing in circles. This frequency will be the undertone of the year. It feels like this year is asking a simple question of us –

‘Are you willing to move with what’s already alive in you?’

A Year of Thresholds, Not Resolutions

Welcoming every New Year with new goals, resolutions, habits, and declarations has been the norm. But some years don’t want improvement. They don’t want us to introduce new themes, but rather to work on and fine-tune what we have already learned. They want completion.

2026 is one of those years. It asks us to let the old lessons fade, to loosen their hold, as they etch their marks into the new ‘us’ we are building. It can be uncomfortable for us as we are asked to stand still while everything in us moves. It asks us to take a deep breath, while our blood settles into new pathways, and muscles remember new movements. You are no longer who you were, but you’re not quite who you are becoming.

Endings rarely feel comfortable and complete. Most of the time, you only realize a chapter is over once you’re already walking away from it, once you realize the roles you played well are no longer fitting. Dreams that excited you are no longer alive and instead feel heavy. Once you feel that versions of you that survived something don’t need to anymore, that is when we are ready to move forward.

The Horse Knows The Way

The horse is not reckless. However, it is unapologetic. Movement is its nature. Muscle memory, breath, and rhythm are its second nature. It doesn’t overexplain. It doesn’t apologize. It sees a stretch of land and runs free, akin to a bird. All others can do is admire its beauty.

That is the invitation of this year. It will not reward overthinking. It will respond to honest and true momentum. If the last few years were about survival and learning, this year is about reinhabiting your life. Letting your energy circulate again. Loosening up the muscles, living without fear and seeing a stretch of land, and running wild and free. No fear of what awaits us at the end of the stretch, no overthinking how we look- nothing. It’s about being wild and free, and especially unapologetic.

This year will teach you as you move- not before it.

Life in its hue this year

Threshold years reveal relationships with clarity. Some connections deepen while some stretch thin or quietly end from divergence. The ones that walk with us can do so because they can walk at the same pace that we are asked to move.

Not everyone you love can run beside you. And it is not wrong. It is just levelling up.

This year is teaching us that longevity does not equal alignment. Some people were only meant to walk us to the threshold, not through it. And there should be grief, and gratitude, and relief in that.

This year is not to cut people off; it is to teach us how to refuse to cut ourselves down for others.

Momentum is a teacher. You don’t wait till you’re confident to jump. You jump and confidence will catch up. It means letting your work evolve in the public eye. Choosing to participate rather than perfecting. Especially for creatives like myself, writers, and builders, 2026 asks us to choose a direction. Daily movement. Repetition. Trust in our own body’s intrinsic intelligence to light the way as we move forward step by step.

A Blessing for the Crossing

There is always a temptation whispering in our ears- to carry old explanations, revert back to habits that bring us comfort, to snuggle back into our cocoon that shuts out the world. But this year asks us to travel light. Expand our comfort zone. Not because the past doesn’t matter, but because we have outgrown it all. Because it has done its work.

You are allowed to move forward without a dramatic ending.

Don’t drag what’s already finished. Don’t wait for certainity before you move. Don’t confuse stillness with safety.

Move honestly.

Move intentionally.

Move gently, like ripples across water.

Move because something in you is ready to run again.

May we meet in 2026 the way it is meeting us- In motion. In power.
